Our Woodend Mill studios and workshop is home to MAODS and Next Generation. All our rehearsals take place at the Mill where we have two rehearsal studios and a scenery workshop. The workshops are also where our Next Generation group meets and performs small productions to showcase their work. We are expanding the staging facilities so we can put on larger productions at Woodend Mill although all MAODS' major productions take place at the George Lawton Hall, Mossley, our theatrical ’home’ for over 30 years.
The Mill
Our two studios are fully equipped with mirrors, sound and lighting systems, retractable seating and removable doors to create one large studio theatre area. In addition, we have a private toilet and kitchen facility which is open to use by members of MAODS and Next Gen.
Studio and Facilities
We have a dedicated stage staff who construct all the scenery for our productions in our own purpose-built workshops. Fully equipped with all necessary equipment, our scenery is constructed to professional standards and after use it is often purchased by professional scenic supply companies. All walls, floors and ceilings were lined and painted and the floors and walls were built by our stage staff over a period of nearly 12 months.
